Gate Facts:

90% of all call-backs or complaints from customers of fence contractors are due to sagging, warping, or malfunctioning gates. We have all but eliminated this problem with our gates. Our vinyl gates and gate posts are a cut above our competition.

All of our gates have an internal aluminum frame as you can see in this photo.

First of all we set the gate posts in at least 100 lbs of cement (picture 1 & 2).

Next we fill the posts up to the bottom rail with cement (picture 3).

Next step is to slide the heavy duty insert into the cement until it is flush with the top of the vinyl post. (picture 4).

Pictures 1 through 4 show our special heavy duty post insert.

After the cement cures, what we have is two very sturdy posts (hinge and latch) that will hold a large and heavy gate. Also the gate hardware will be screwed into metal instead of just plastic. Our gates feel like doors on your house.

Gates without these features tend to sag and the posts wobble when closing the gate. Also most other vinyl gates are glued together at the four corners and that is the entire strength of the gate. With the aluminum frame inside the gate frame of our gates and the post inserts, the whole system is so much better than the alternative.

Pictures 6 through 9 are gates we have installed in the area with the post inserts and gate frames. Three of these gates are 15' wide double gates hanging off of corner posts and there is no sign of sagging. On large gates like these we actually fill the entire gate post with cement to the top.

The next pictures, 10 through 13 pictures are gates without either the internal frame on the gate or the post insert. They sag and the hardware doesn't work properly. Picture 11 is a job we actually quoted and explained our gate methods and the problems you can have by not having the metal in the gates. The customer opted to save a few hundred dollars and this is the result. The picture was taken about a year and a half after the fence was installed, so needless to say either the fence contractor that installed the fence won't or can't fix the gate. We now offer two prices, one price with the frames and post inserts, and one without. The purpose of this is because most of our competitors don't even mention these features and it typically makes their quote less than ours. We highly recommend our style gates over the cheaper gates.

Wood Gates:

Any wood gate larger than 10' wide should have a metal frame. Also 6 x 6 posts instead of the typical 4 x 4 post should be used with plenty of concrete.

Using the metal frame to attach the wood planks to does two things. It holds the frame together to prevent sagging and warping, and it allows for adjustment, just like a chain-link gate.

Pictures 14 through 18 are gates we have installed with the metal frames. We have had no complaints with our gates since we implemented these features for wood or PVC. Decorative metal gates are no problem since all metal gates either aluminum or iron come welded before powder coating.

New: Our new adjustable gate frame for gates up to 12' wide (double) is a powder-coated steel Frame with a diagonal brace that expands from 3'x3' to 6'x6'. It is a very handy addition to our gate upgrades because it is adjustable and is square and less intrusive. Even smaller gates can fall victim to sun damage and warping, sagging and general malfunction. As seen in picture 18 it serves well in keeping you gate solid and true, and is worth the small investment for your fence. Picture below.
